Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
-
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
-
In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
-
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix well after each addition.
-
Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
-
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and cool completely on a wire rack.
-
In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream until it begins to steam. Remove from heat and add the chocolate. Let it sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
-
Add the green food coloring to the chocolate ganache and mix well.
-
Once the cake has cooled, pour the green ganache over the top, allowing it to drip down the sides.
-
Decorate with gummy worms.
-
Serve and enjoy!
