Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk.
  5. Divide the batter into three equal parts. Leave one part plain, color one part with red gel food coloring, and color the remaining part with blue gel food coloring.
  6. Pour the blue batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Carefully pour the white batter on top, followed by the red batter.
  7. Use a toothpick or skewer to gently swirl the colors together, creating a marbled effect.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Once the cake has cooled, spread whipped cream over the top. Arrange sliced strawberries and blueberries in the shape of an American flag.
  11. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
