  3. Pour the batter into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.

  5. Remove from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix together the sweetened shredded coconut and whipped topping.
  7. Spread the coconut mixture evenly over the cooled cake.
  8. Top with maraschino cherries and pecans.
