  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the almond extract.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the flour mixture.
  6. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan. Sprinkle the sliced almonds on top.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
