Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a round cake pan.

Slice the peaches and arrange them in a single layer on the bottom of the pan. Sprinkle the almonds on top.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.

Pour the batter over the peaches and almonds in the pan.

Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
