Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, orange zest, orange juice, and molasses.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with hot water. Mix until just combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

In a separate bowl, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
